Nikasha is known for its contemporary Indian-ness and celebration of the handicraft. The Autumn Winter 2016 collection didn’t disappoint in that regard. It was contemporary, it was Indian and it was befitting, for the Indian woman, who’s modern but still proud of her lineage. The collection was a luxurious blend of different culture with a twist of modernity.

With silhouettes carefully designed keeping the Indian woman in mind, the entire collection was made out of khadi. Nikhasha’s entire line up saw a lot of sarees, dhoti pants, strapless open tube blouses and jackets. The garments were embellished with 3D work of antique beads, cowry shells, Katha embroidery, mother of pearl buttons and coral beads. Hand block print was also used throughout the collection. The designer also played with the hemlines of the kurtas – sometimes straight, sometimes high-low.

Nikasha mainly used bright red and pale white throughout the collection, with few pieces in black here and there. The designer house’s trademark handcrafted tassels made its presence feel throughout the collection.
