When a collection is called “Prism” it has to feature the powerful multifaceted hues of the inspiration. Ridhi Mehra Sekhri’s line for her label ‘Ridhi Mehra’ was a poetic offering to the modern working woman at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.
The fabric choice was rich and varied, starting with soft georgette, chiffon, net, velvet and crépe. The ensembles were ultra-glam Red Carpet options with silhouettes that were sculpted and draped to perfection.
The colours were deep and rich solid hues of black, teal green, deep blue and crimson red. The embellishments moved from tonal to shimmering sequins and dori work to create a 3D effect.
The wide palette of styles that will appeal to the glamazons started with, semi couture jumpsuits, pleated skirts, structured kurtas, cape blouses, stunning gowns and dramatic separates. While the cuts moved along contemporary lines, it was the traditional Indian crafts that added to the beauty of the garments.
The opening jumpsuit with slit legs and sleeves in black with lush embroidery was a great curtain raiser. Rich rose and floral embellishments were placed strategically to highlight the ultra glam creations. A white kurta with rose motifs looked elegant with cropped pants, while cape sleeves were the focal point of a black tonal embroidered dress. An ink blue georgette cape and pants, attached dupatta for a black jumpsuit, organza asymmetric top with slit pants and the rust asymmetric gown with a trail continued the glam story. The solitary red cheongsam was a great addition and the will-power gown with long embroidered cape made an impressive entry.
The showstopper was the very gorgeous, statuesque Bollywood star of films like “Jannat 2” Esha Gupta who looked sensational in a black embroidered gown and net trail. Ridhi Mehra Sekhri presented her version of Indo-western creations for her label ‘Ridhi Mehra’, which will create an innovative “Prism” for women of style and substance.
