Manish Malhotra newest collection, TALES OF INDULGENCE, at the Winter-Festive 2017 edition recounted the sparkle and glamour of a night of celebration. The collection followed the trail of revelry over the ages and across the world translating their nuances into ensembles, which are structured and playful at the same time. It brought out the Gatsby-esque decadence of the roaring 1920’s, the sensuality of a Parisian burlesque and the hedonism from the depths of a night-club in the Mediterranean.

Sprays of elaborate motifs, ornate pearls in chrome and pewter, cleverly arranged tassels and feathers all brought together in architectural simplicity worked their magic across the collection. Crafted in silks, organza, velvet and nets with the colour palette ranging from black, oyster grey and chrome. Short cocktail dresses paired with capes, corset tops coupled with bouffant pants and embroidered skirts and silken trench-coats and kimonos worn over harness-blouses gave the women’s collection a seductive appeal. Shoes with towering heels, feathered purses and pill-box clutches with metal Venetian-mask details added the perfect accent to the outfits.

For the gentlemen, the designer presented tailored dinner jackets worn with skinny pants and classic tuxedoes worn with edgy tulle bow-ties. For the first time, the label introduced layering for men. The spotlight was on cowl-necked asymmetrical hybrid silhouettes of kurta-shirts worn with trench-coats and embroidered jackets worn with velvet stoles. Feathered collars and lapels, net corsages and gold pocket-chains added an European dandy touch to the outfits.
