With a strong aesthetic and deep love for all things old, Lara Morakhia launched a jewellery line which uses her creative vocabulary to mix and match somewhat familiar elements in an unfamiliar way. Pieces of vintage silver and antique jewellery are upcycled and re-imagined with the use of precious stones and turned into wearable art – that one can weave into any style of dressing whether indian, western or indo-western making each of her pieces one of a kind.

With a penchant for Indian heritage, art and design, her SS’18 collection is inspired primarily by the gorgeous temples and other architectural marvels in India and the beautiful construction of their elaborate structures to create intricate and stunning design patterns primarily made of antique and vintage silver with gold jadtar.

The collection features silver kadas tied in leather and set with pearls, edgy geometric ring sets with gold beads, and statement Jadau earrings in Vilandi Pearls and coloured stones. She has also designed an array of elaborate layered neckpieces and chokers set with African Batik Bones, silver beads and leather. Exotic elements such as quills, ethically sourced warthog tusks from Africa, and African masal (Masai) beads are used to create jewellery that is full of character – a humble representation, expression and extension of herself.
