JK Tyre, a part of JK organization, in association with Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) launched ‘Soles With Souls’, a first of its kind tyre recycling initiative in the world, attempting to recycle tyres using unconventional methods and innovatively create footwear and accessories from old and recycled tyres.

Taking the concept further over 40 shoes and accessories, designed by students of FDDI from the recycled tyres were showcased through a fashion walk. The variety of designs included right from office wear to casual sandals, to belts and fancy bags. The students were trained by JK Tyre on the usage of rubber to create the fancy products.

About this breakthrough initiative and FDDI’s association with JK Tyre, Rajeev Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI, said, “It has given our students an altogether a new canvas to work on. At the same time, we end up recycling enormous amounts of rubber lying waste. The students have been successful in portraying their creativity, which reflects in their designs. I must congratulate JK Tyre for taken up such an initiative. I see a start of global revolution and the initiative aptly complements the upcoming Earth Day when the world looks to synergize against environmental degradation.”
