AIL-F-122141-0000Rome’s most striking and imposing building, Palazzo della Civilta Italiana (PDCI), will soon-to-be headquarters of FENDI. As announced in mid 2013, a 15 year agreement with EUR s.p.a for the prestigious PDCI marking an additional step forward towards the idea of giving value and support to the historical heritage and establishing the future headquarter of the roman maison.
Built at the end of ’30s, PDCI more commonly known as ‘The Square Colosseum’, is considered as one of the icons of Italian rationalist architecture and an exemplary model of monumentality. It is decorated with 28 statues on its four facades with each representing the arts and crafts of the Italian population. Closed for renovation, it will soon house FENDI employees. The architectural project spearheaded by architect Marco Costanzi has set the goal of making the building “habitable” for the first time in its long history, changing the public perception of the monument as an impenetrable stone box.
