In London, contemporary fashion archive, Live Archives, has opened an exhibition devoted to the work of the Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. A live exhibition, where the pieces will be worn by live models demonstrating different ways to wear, as Japan’s noir maestro is famous for creating clothes that can be worn in multiple ways. It is also said that the selection of his pieces will be on sale too.

60 pieces will be put on display at the Mare Street Gallery space – some which date back to the 80s, like an iconic cotton cut-work ensemble from the designer’s SS’83 collection. Yamamoto’s work has been featured in over 40 museum shows since the birth of his brand in 1981 – something that could be considered ironic given that he once said museums are “where fashion goes to die”.

Exhibition Yohji Yamamoto: SHOWSPACE will last until August 8.
