The poignancy layered with dreams make Croatia born New York based designer and artist Mandali Mendrilla dedicate her latest couture collection to her late husband.

The Fall Winter 2012 collection titled, ‘Slave2Love’ is a result of the designer’s pursuit of truth and beauty, and is dedicated to her husband, Elisha Nitai Drury, who died in a car accident this January. It featured some interesting designs mainly in hues of black and white with accents of red and yellow. The dresses have recurring motifs of heart, bell, butterfly and flowers.

About her collection Mandali said, “It is an expression of the fragile nature of the human form versus the eternality of indwelling spirit, inspired by Chuang Tzi’s butterfly metempsychosis and the eternal wisdom of the ancient scripture Bhagavad-Gita – the fluttering organic hand painted cloth expresses a longing for attainment of undying worlds within.”
