The fashion event credited for giving platform to young designers, Lakme Fashion Week is back with a bunch of newbies ready to showcase their young and innovative designs amidst veterans.

The much-anticipated Gen Next Show at the fashion will see 10 aspiring designers including Kavita Sharma and Asaboy Kazingmei belting out their Winter Festive 2012 collections. The collection titled, ‘It’s a beautiful life’ by Kavita is inspired by a child’s world that is fresh, new, and full of wonder and excitement. The unique technique of burning the raw edges of pure silk fabric pieces, further put together create a rustic and charming look on the garments. Moreover, different techniques like appliqué work, tucks and hand painting have been used on fabrics like royal silk and silk jute.

On the other hand, Asaboy Kazingmei has a collection titled, ‘Immortal’, inspired by the beauty and the intricacies of the hand woven textiles of Tangkhul-naga tribe on offer.

The theme revolves around the mesmerizing beauty of the north east and the line is developed with the help of hand woven fabric. The designer has created a confluence of traditional and modernity by incorporating traditional motifs into modern chic evening dresses for women.

The highlight of the collection in traditional colors like red, black, green and maroon grey is the prestigious Raivat shawl worn by the royal chief of the clan.
