As the stage is all set designer Sanchita Ajjampur belts out a repertoire of dark and delicate stories through her latest collection titled, ‘The Fire Bird’.

The designer has an exquisite range of womenswear and menswear, adorned with accessories on offer for the upcoming Winter Festive 2012 edition of Lakme fashion Week.

The womenswear exuding surrealism features linear shapes and restructured proportions in the form of kimono silhouettes, cinched waist dresses, asymmetrical poodle skirt interpretations, trapeze, drop-waist sack and flapper dresses.  Done in punchy hues of chalky lavender, grass green, blush nude and lemon, along with winter metallic, the collection uses fabrics like neoprene lurex, vintage jacquard, gold wash lace georgette, wispy chiffon and crepe de chine.

The highlights of the collection are delicate sheers embellished with exotic cut feather shapes, reflective blacks and golds and rigid plastics for a futuristic feel and muted jacquards with opaque and metallic embellishments. The range is completed by accessories like clutch purses and headgear. On the other hand, Sanchita’s menswear sees the iconography and mythology of the Wild West being explored through intense winter darks, Native American graphic influences and eclectic layering of unexpected fabrics, along with new proportions, staples fused with technical sport, lending an urban edge to the modern lounge wear.

The collection using fabrics like silk cotton, muslin, neoprene Lurex, matte parachute nylon, suede Nubuck leather, molleton jersey, twills and cotton jerseys, features bomber jackets, and deconstructed tailored suits, boxy t-shirts and classic shirts, wide legged and cropped pants and joggers pants.

The color palette is comprised of apricot, honeyberry, plum, black currant and cool blue. And complementing the menswear is an array of totes and satchels in printed canvas and dappled cow leather, embellished modern sandals, moccasins, belts and printed bandannas.
