Her objective is to focus on women who have refined their fashion tastes to embrace what is considered more contemporary and modern, amalgamating their Indianness with a broader view of the world. Priyadarshini Rao started her label in 1996.

She acquired a Fashion Design Diploma at SNDT and a few years later specialized in Textile Design at the Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai. A decade and more later, she enrolled for the Corsetry and Jacket making course at the London College of Fashion Studies, London. These specializations interspersed with experience under designers such as Sylvia Fletcher have made Priyadarshini Rao a designer of mettle.

Besides her own label, she has headed the design studio at Shoppers’ Stop in 2001-02, and also founded the design and brand concept for the apparel label Sepia in its formative year. She has presented her work at the India Fashion Weeks since 2004 and also at the Singapore Fashion Week in 2006. Her design work has been occasionally extended to cover bespoke developments of home accents and decor, and to design corporate uniforms for premium service brands.

Priyadarshini’s clothing is rich in naturally occurring colour palettes, and in natural fabrics like silk, linen or cottons. She prefers to define her work as luxury pret and believes that her customer is someone who seeks an elegant and evolved clothing solution.

Her clothing is retailed out of over 15 premium boutiques in India, and she is well recognized for her signature style which has established itself over the years and also overseas under her own label in Israel, Japan, Spain and other countries.
