Ankur and Priyanka Modi show at Lakme Fashion Week WF’18
    August 23, 2018

Ankur & Priyanka Modi showcased spectacular and glamorous Gypset at the opening day of Lakme Fashion Week 2018. This collection was inspired by the carefree lifestyle of a gypsy woman that paid homage to the GYPSET, a term coined by Julia Chaplin to celebrate the neo-hippie.

Inspired by their travels around the world, Ankur and Priyanka reimagined tunics as shirt-dresses, salwars as flared pants and classic long coats are given a modern twist by adding lapels in brought to life texture, print, and embroidery, epitomized by style-icons Veruschka, Brigitte Bardot, and Talitha Getty.

The collection mixes folklore with urban legends, ethnic inspiration with float-y lightweight fabrics and an unexpected combination of styles. Imagine a scalloped blouson paired with a long skirt, dhoti pants worn with their classic A-line coats.

The artisanal motifs of adorned horses are whimsically placed amidst rich, intricate patterns that effortlessly blend to create seamless surfaces interspersed with rich embroideries, stone embellishments and leather detailing against the canvas of silks, wools, and organza.

The palette is reminiscent of deep desert hues and stays true to the central theme. From forest, green and sand to wine and chili red, every hue is a cue to the simple pleasures adorned with handcrafted jewels curated with geometric shapes like hexagons, triangles, swirls as key elements in black plating adding elegance to Ankur and Priyanka Modi’s latest collection.
