200Women’s fight against the extremely rampant patriarchal society and male domination has been continuing since centuries. Apart from giving men a cut-throat competition on the professional level, women also take control of themselves by the way they dress themselves. The same is the subject of the newly opened ‘Women Fashion Power’ exhibition opened at the Design Museum in London.

Featuring a collection of modern outfits contributed by some of the most influential women of the 21st century, the exhibition traces key moments in the development of women’s clothing since 1850.

Designed by the acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid, the exhibition consists of interviews, unique historic pieces of clothing and an exclusive film which takes the visitor to an enliven journey which clearly portrays the advice that women give from their clothing, apart from its mere outward appearance.

Heading back 150 years, the exhibition traces how women’s outfits have evolved from the constraints of the corset through flapper dresses, mini-skirts, female tuxedos, power-dresses and sportswear.

From Dame Vivienne Westwood to Natalie Massenet and Princess Diana to Anne Hidalgo, Women Fashion Power uses some innumerable similar milestone illustrations to show how fashion has always been an important tool of self-expression and empowerment to build reputation, attract attention and assert authority.

The exhibition will run from 29th October to 26th April 2015.
