The third exhibition of the Nordic Contemporary art space 14, rue du Château d’Eau, Paris, features the work of nine Scandinavian and Nordic artists presenting new interpretations of paintings, sculptures, drawings and video.
Many of the works have a sense of desperation, including elements of beauty, order and control. The title ‘sticky mess’ refers to something dystopian, while ‘get us there’ stands for an almost metaphysical belief that things will be all right. Or as Vivienne Westwood once said, “cash for chaos”.
A celebration of the unpolished, the work itself and also the act of working THIS STICKY MESS WILL GET US THERE exhibition attempts to break down hierarchies set against the backdrop of the dark Nordic cultural history as its meeting point with the modern urban being.
