Christopher Kane may have denied the speculation going around of him filling in the shoes of Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga , but it has been confirmed that Kane will be leaving Versus , the kid sister Versace line he has been designing for the past six months, describing the decision as a “ mutual agreement” between Christopher and Donatella Versace. The new strategy for the label Versus is expected to be a season-less line with a strong digital element that will be designed by the fashion house honcho Donatella Versace in collaboration with a number of yet-to-be- named young designers, stylists and creative talents.
Instead of runway shows, capsule collections will be rolled out throughout the year at special events ( the first of which is set for April or May 2013).
Acknowledging Christopher’s contribution to Versus , a line which he electrified with a young ,punk, and slightly subversive sensibility , the Italian legend wished Kane her best for the development of his own line with him having her total support.
