The cover of "My Journey."After stepping down from her namesake label, fashion designer Donna Karan is releasing her new memoir, ‘My Journey’ for her fans which will come out on October 13, 2105.

Published by Ballantine Books, the candid memoir begins with Ms. Karan’s childhood, where she was surrounded by fashion due to her tailor father and showroom model and saleswoman mother. A foreword was written by singer, and idol of Ms. Karan, Barbara Streisand.  She describes how she felt about being fired from Anne Klein, starting up her own namesake label with her “seven easy pieces,” the immediate success.

She also discusses her two marriages and the loss of her second husband and business partner Stephan Weiss, who died of lung cancer in 2001. She also reveals how a chaotic life, fueled by endless curiosity and childlike impulses, helped her design seminal collections season after season for global powerhouse brands Donna Karan New York and DKNY.

She also details how she has channeled her creativity into philanthropic work, particularly her early outspoken advocacy for AIDS awareness and research, and the creation of her Urban Zen Foundation, focusing on integrated healthcare and education as well as preservation of culture.
