Dior’s latest collection by Raf Simons, created into a documentary named ‘Dior & I’ marked its debut premiere in the famous Tribeca Film Festival. Written and directed by Frederic Tcheng the documentary summarises Simon’s eight weeks of hard work spent in creating his first ever collection to be showcased at the haute couture week in July. It is a juxtaposition of Christian Dior’s founding of the house in 1946 with Simon’s debut in the house, both of which occurred at the same atelier in Paris.

Showcasing feminine pieces with soft silhouettes, Simon showcased his designs and not sketches, for his 54 piece collection. Some of the collection’s pieces, particularly Sterling Ruby paintings and his style of emulating the idea of a brush stroke through fabric that brings his debut presentation, were truly unique, and never seen or experienced before.

The documentary is perfect representation of Simon being the best choice for Dior, who created the magical and thoroughly engaging collection and showcased it individualistically through a documentary.
