An exclusive exploration of the two must creative and engaging art forms, ‘Dance and Fashion’ is a one of a kind exhibition. Held at one of the most fashionable museums in New York City, the exhibition is organised by the museum’s director Dr. Valerie Steele. It features as many as 100 never seen before dance costumes and dance-inspired fashions, ranging from the 19th century to the present.

580 1Speaking of some of its exciting inhibitions, it opens with a mind-blowing display of ballet costumes and its related fashion styles from 1830s and 1840s. Designer’s curating for the ballet section list to Yves Saint Laurent and Riccardo Tischi of Givenchy (for the Paris Opera Ballet), Christian Lacroix, and Jean Paul Gaultier, plus Valantino Garavani, Prabal Gurung, Giles Mendel, Olivier Theyskens, Rodarte, and Iris Van Herpen.

580Besides, a modern dance section including Narciso Rodriguez for Morphoses, Francisco Costa for Elisa Monte, and Tara Subkoff for Stephen Petronio amongst others, an African-Caribbean inspired costumes from Katherine Dunham, flamenco-inspired dresses by designers Oscar de la Renta, and Ralph Lauren to name a few, are some of the other highlighting features of the exhibition.
