On 24th November 2014, more than 200 companies across the fashion, publishing, TV, film, music and arts industries have united to form a new independent body, the ‘Creative Industries Federation-the brainchild of Sir John Sorrel. The organisation is an independent body associating both the public and the private sectors to provide a ‘single and independent voice’ for Britain’s fastest-growing cultural sector.

500The organisation bags the support of some of the leading fashion labels and retailers of the world like Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Issa, Mulberry, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Liberty, Net-a-Porter, and Selfridges, and the British Fashion Council, University of the Arts London, the BFI, Design Council, Creative Skillset, Victoria and Albert Museum and Walpole British Luxury. It purports to acquaint the government to focus on issues such as education, finance and funding, diversity and digital development across the sectors represented by the group.

The Creative Industries Federation will also be associated with universities, business schools and other institutions in order to identify threatschallenges and best practice around the world and to incur detailed research work and create an annual report that will provide the definitive international assessment of the impact of UK’s creative industries and arts.

While the group looks forward to host 12 road shows across the United Kingdom, co-hosted by partners from public, private and education in 2015, it will alongside entirely focus on increasing the access and diversity for the cultural industry and will offer its members networking opportunities through its meetings, events and conferences.

It will begin in December, with a wider national membership scheme, a non-profit and an overall economic and social development of the nation motive.
