When one of the fashion’s best men take a holy Indian dip, world is warranted to take notice of the heritage the country has been nurturing since centuries. Canali, Hermes and Louis Vuitton have already had been through this way, now its Chanel embracing Indian lavishness.

The very recent showcasing by Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel came up in the mode of India and its colors. The jewel encrusted Chanel pre fall 2012 collection titled, ‘Paris-Bombay’ at Paris Grand Palais explored Indian magnificence with a twist of Chanel.

With Indian banquet,high tea treat and crystal chandeliers, Chanel catwalk was a total Indian extravaganza with heavily embroidered Nehru jackets, churidars, bandhgala jackets and sari like draped garments – mainly done in the ivory, gold and red. Accessorizing them was a range of chokers, nose rings and chunky gold and silver jewellery.

Lagerfeld dedicated this collection to the craftsmen who manufacture for Chanel while describing India as a country where even the poor have dignity.
