The British fashion house Alexander McQueen has created three brand-new versions of its iconic Armadillo Boot to raise money for UNICEF’s earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.
Handcrafted from wood and python skin in Italy, will be auctioned off as part of the Christies Handbags & Accessories Auction. Plato’s Atlantis was the last collection Lee McQueen completed before his death.The designer’s futuristic vision was inspired by Darwin’s theories of evolution and contemporary concerns about global warming. The Armadillo boots, aptly named for their armour-like appearance, are widely considered to be one of the mosticonic pieces created by McQueen in his lifetime.
The auction which started on 14 July, 2015 will run till 23 July.
