photoMarking his own international milestone and making the country proud, Goa based designer Wendell Rodricks won the prestigious International French Distinction, ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres’ by the Minister of Culture and Communications Ms. Aurélie Fillipetti, Paris. The English translation of the award states: Knight in the National Order of Arts and Letters.

The designer follows the footsteps of some of the most iconic names in the world, such as T.S. Elliott, Audrey Hepburn, Jeanne Moreau, Sean Connery, Marion Coutillard, George Clooney, Jude Law and Cate Blanchett, who have been bestowed with the same honour for outstanding contribution in the fields of art and literature.

Meanwhile, Rodricks is also the first designer to bring this prestigious award to Goa. Rejoiced at the occasion, he expressed in a humble tone, ‘I am elated at this knighthood. It is even more delightful for me, since my art is based on simple tailoring. To get this distinction is an affirmation that any humble craft can be recognised internationally’.

However, the award will be handed over to him possibly during the upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in Delhi or in Goa.
