Designer Arpita’s debut showcase at Lakme Fashion Week 2013 titled ‘The Violet Garden’ is comfortable yet has flattering silhouettes with contrasting colours.

Each garment in her contemporary-vintage garden is replete with wearable luxury, stylish cuts, trendy embroidery and dainty silhouettes. Her pieces boast an embroidered marvel in mirror-work, gota or threadwork elegantly used as placements across the border of a saree, in the cuff of a kurta or around the neck of a choli.

Naturally drawn towards the beauty of violet flowers, Arpita’s debut collection sees the perky purples as a dominating theme. Using digital and geometric prints, she has created a contemporary Indian range inspired by the 1950s that includes a box-pleated, voluminous anarkalis, high-waisted lehengas, sarees with high-neck blouses and cropped cholis with shararas.
