Karl Lagerfeld, the king of contemporary fashion created The 2011 Pirelli Calendar, ‘Mythology’, showing his deep passion for Greek and Roman mythology.

The calendar consists of 36 photos, covering 24 different subjects including Gods, heroes and myths. All of the photos are black and white to depict the beauty of the figures on the sharp dramatic contrasts giving them the appearance of 3 dimensions through careful use of light.

“Its my favourite religion; one god good for every occasion”, said Karl. He used 15 female models and 5 male models and American actress Julianne Moore. Karl designed necklaces, gold sexes and armbands which turned into a tree bark, owl and plexi glass helmet himself whereas Stephane Lubrina and George Cortine made bracelets, shields and weapons.
