The last day of Haute Couture Spring Summer 2016, had Maison Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, Valentino Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad. John Galliano presented his artisanal collection of cocktail dresses embellished with gold leaf for Maison Margiela. There were white skirt suits, coats were paraded with half a sleeve removed, and exaggerated silhouettes dominated the runway. Fabrics used were georgettes followed by exquisite jacquard and then leather. Faces of the models had red lipped mouth or were painted blue or black while long hair was threaded with feathers and gemstones.

Jean Paul’s creations were homage to 80’s which had big hair, bold colours, angular designs were strong evidence. Silk pyjamas and jumpsuits, pill-box hats and bleached denim jackets was an homage to the 80s Parisien disco-scene that centered on Le Palace.

Valentino models walked barefoot on ramp of roses and ranunculus. The collection Alchemy had  all pleats and patchwork with Japanese-inspired embroidery, from pale ivory to scarlet velvet with serpentine headpieces from Japanese-Italian artist Harumi Klossowska.
