Dries Van Noten, Guy Laroche and Balenciaga appeared to be the most enthusiastic exhibitors during the second day of the fashion week. Of the three, Dries Van Noten was the most exquisite. The collection included some oomph filled evening wear ensembles in the most comfortable and easy to wear fabrics. Guy Laroche and Balenciaga, on the other hand, were more inclined towards delicacy and sophistication. Semi-formal and formal wear were at the essence for both the fashion houses. The colour palette was also very feminine, elegant and soothing to the eyes.

360 2Christophe Lemaire, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel, Cédric Charlier and Yang Li progressed with the rest of the day. The feature common to them all was the use of pastel, basic and minimal colour combinations. However, for Sonia Rykiel and Cédric Charlier it was all about being funky and glamorous. While Sonia’s creations were completely day and casual wear, Cédric’s collection was a complete evening wear including some glamorous gowns, sleek dresses, and mesmerising layered dresses.

Also, ‘simplicity is the best kind of sophistication’ seemed to be the designers’ inspiration for both these collections.

580Meanwhile, the day continued with some of the most refined fashion houses of the world, including Damir Doma, Gauchère, Rochas and Vionnet amongst many others. Onlookers now badly await the forth-coming days of this French fashion week.
