Highlights of RFW 2012The recently concluded Rajasthan Fashion Week 2012 came up as a glitz affair bringing to the fore some interesting designs with the filmy flavour of Bollywood and a touch of the opulence of royalty.

The 3-day extravaganza in Jaipur was opened by actor Vivek Oberoi by lighting the lamp to give way to six designers with their different collections from across the India. The presence of North-East was marked by Deniel from Meghalaya who presented ryndia, a type of fabric which is chemical free and effortless to wear. The designers like Lina Tipnis, Rohit Verma, Kawaljit Singh and Kirti Rathore belted out their collections, one after another, focusing on ethnic wear featuring Indian motifs and artistry. The highlight of the day was a physically challenged foreign model Alina appearing on the ramp with Abhimanyu Singh.

The day 2 with a lineup of some of the recognized names of Indian fashion was opened by designer Poonam Patel and Swati Modo who showcased an Indo-Western collection featuring dresses, tunics, kurtas and saris. The day also saw designer Pam Mehta presenting her floral fiesta, a collection where relaxed couture came to life. The vibrant collection had zari, resham and Swarovski work on pre-draped saris and sari gowns. Finally, it was the designer duo Rohit & Abhishek who concluded the day with their ‘Dance of Life’ collection featuring bundhgalas, achkans, breeches, harem pants and cowls for men while for women there were jackets, long skirts and Jodhpurs.

The final day of the fashion week had few interesting designs on showcasing like the one by Amit Talwar who kept the look ethnic and portrayed the Pakeeza’s inner beauty of women. On the other hand, Geetanjali Rawat with a special taste for the Western outfits presented her floral collection highlighting base colors like black and red. However, the cynosure of the day was Julia Bruchwitz who came up with a range of exotic gowns and colorful kaftans, fusing Western silhouettes with unique embroidery elements of East. On final notes, the day was wrapped up by Vikram Phadnis who showcased his feminine range of Indian ethnic wear in hues of beige and gold with a tinge of floral prints.
