The Couture Week designer collection transcends the ramp at the Delhi Couture week but gracing the venue is the garment installation by designers. Seeing on the other hand the massive and luxurious scale of the fashion week a relatively small and dimly lit place has been allotted to the installations.
Ekru has displayed three ensembles from their creation which have a royal appeal or the celebratory Indian costume complete with all the zari-gota and vibrant colours. Use of hand embroidery, mostly with mukesh, thread work and gold embroidery is seen. Also the fabrics are richer, mostly woven and brocades. Reynu Tandon along with her ensembles has created a wall installation of a red bird entirely out of thread wheels. And also lay beside a mannequin of giant height. Satya Paul’s bridal couture flourishes in Midas gold. Jaya Rathore an equally bridal extravaganza with non contemporary embroideries and fresh colour ways.
