Calvin Klein presented its Spring Summer 2012 menswear collection in Milan taking inspiration from the effortless ease and functionality of classic American sportswear, using clean modern fabrics with ultra high tech surfaces and treatments.

Calvin Klein’s Men’s Creative Director Italo Zucchelli described the collection as the confluence of color, proportion and textures. The energetic, athletic and multi-dimensional collection displayed new shapes and iconic details.

Contrasted proportions executed on clean, extremely textured surfaces, the rounded shoulder detail of t shirts and jackets, the classically styled trench, an iconic bomber jacket, and a Harrington, each designed in double bonded, matte finish and cotton twills for high definition and modern styling formed the silhouettes of the collection. Other pieces include elongated shorts falling just below the knee and Tuxedo in monochrome blanc or onyx, with a debossed lapel and pant seam.

Fresh, cool shades of white with streaks of citronella yellow and cerulean blue brought a balanced source of bright light to the color palette of sterling, grey mist, herron, and silt. Over-dyed treatments created saturated colors while graphic prints on a base of sterling or grey added a fresh perspective.

The entire Spring 2012 menswear by the brand was brilliantly done with modern fabrics with ultra high tech surfaces, either matte or shiny. Unexpected treatments on classic American fabrications: bonded leathers, resin suedes, waxed jerseys, stonewashed cottons, debossed nylons, and extreme piques lent a different charm to the collection. Semi-transparent mesh or laser cut nylon appeared on jackets, polos and t shirts. Waxed, distressed and polished denims updated a traditional five pocket jean silhouette, t shirt and tank top.
