The Lakme Fashion Week in association with Inter National Institute of Fashion Design organized a workshop From Sketch Pad to Fashion in its endeavor to encourage the fashion education perspective and channelize procedures leading to the business of fashion. The conglomerate of media, designers, buyers and students took place on the 18th February at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai.

The fashion workshop series unravelled right from the ideation to the final product and highlight best practices for the industry and new talents to grow. The panel of fashion industry stakeholders talked about the importance of fashion shows and domestic and international buyers talked about their respective buyer landscape. Other heated and flaring topics of discussion included how the orders are placed, the production and manufacturing stage to meet the clients demands and lastly how one designer can promote and maintain his image in the industry.

Speaking on the occasion Ritu Kochhar Corporate Director, INIFD said, “This is a great platform for designers to understand fashion from sketchpad to closet. The workshop is segmented into various sections and gives explicit information about the designer’s inspiration along with all important thought processes.”

The extremely expertise panelist brought onstage some of the most influential and directional names from the industry which included Gunal Gaitonde (INIFD Professor),  James Ferreira (designer), Narendra Kumar (designer), Anuj Sharma (Designer), Aki Narula (Designer/stylist), Pearl Shah ( Fashion Editor, Marie Clare, India), Sathya Saran (Editor ME), Bandana Tewari (Fashion Features Director, Vogue India), Sangita Kathiwada ( Owner Melange), Gaurav Mahajan (COO Westside), Juhi Pandey (Head of Operations & Marketing, Ricamo India), Rahul Anand (Manager, Design, Mandhana Industries Ltd.) and Sujal Shah (Head of Fashion, IMG India).
