Australian Fashion Week opened yesterday with fifty shades of Toni Maticevski sending his collection down the runway. While Australian Fashion Week founder Simon Lock explained how the attendance of buyers has dropped from around 240 at the height of the event to just 24 this year.

Coming back to Maticevski, the Melbourne-born designer new-look resort wear had billowing dresses in shades of cream, onyx and the blue. The looks were more restrained with models in sky-high, pencil-thin heels teetering on a polished marble runway with their hands shackled behind their back by crystal Ryan Storer handcuffs His trademark full skirted silhouette was in full flight of fancy, this time with additional extras including baroque brocade tails, leather and zips.

Ginger and Smart resort 17 collection, titled ‘Voyager’, saw a well balanced mix of neutrals and bright colour. The duo showcased a new line of swimwear in earthy shades of jade, rust, coco and French with graphic silhouettes.

Misha collection, was a more luxe version of the label called ‘Misha Gold – The New Edition’, comprised of black lace, nude corsetry and form fitting feminine silhouettes.
