One of the leading Indian fashion designers and a member of the Fashion Design Council of India, her work is primarily influenced by the concept of “hand-made” handloom fabrics. She studied at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and thereafter received a scholarship from Konstfack University of Art and Culture in Stockholm. Other than her work, her true passion in life is Photography and it was her passion for photography that marked her foray into the Fashion Designing field.

Her label ‘Paromita Banerjee’ is inspired from the various regional street styles around India and stands for the designs emphasizing the feel of ‘hand-made’ fabrics.

Her creations have been regularly showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week and Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. Appreciated by Marie Claire and Verve, she was the sole designer to represent India at the Shanghai chapter of the World Fashion Organization and in 2012 she was one of the five finalists for the British Council, Young Creative Entrepreneur Award in Design for Social Impact.

She retails from various boutiques in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Pune and hometown Kolkata and her clients include industrialists, Member of Parliaments and those in the performing arts amongst others.
