Produced enormous art, bagged several awards, styled a number of respected persona’s and being acclaimed globally all these together elucidates the tale of a girl who entered the world of fashion in 1987 and still continues to serve the industry with her mind boggling crafts. The girl here talked about is Madhu Jain, one of the leading fashion expertise’s of the country with a practice of around two decades. 

Madhu hails from one of the old foremost business families of Delhi. Rearing from a complete traditional background the designer completed her primary education from Welham Girls and Waverly Convent School. Later she pursued her Masters Degree from the Delhi School of Economics and hand in hand continued her invention into an absolute alienated world of fashion. But Madhu never had to look back because of her traditional legacy and yawning perceptive of aesthetics which had helped to groom her crucial theory regarding designing without acquiring any formal guidance.

‘Projekt M’ one of the high-flying label is an effort of Madhu Jain in collaboration with Milind Soman, another fashion connoisseur. The label was introduced in the year 2003. And for the 2010 held Commonwealth Games for the first time in India the designer presented an eco friendly Craft mechanism on the eve of the opening ceremony.

Traditional and authentic hand-woven crafts enthuses the label Madhu Jain. A construction of motifs inspired by the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and the art of Kalamkari signifies Madhu Jain’s collection. Ikats from Andhra Pradesh amalgamated beautifully and very artistically with Kantha embroidery of West Bengal are performed daintily in the designer’s assortment. 

Madhu Jain has worked with BRAC in Bangladesh which is one of the largest NGOs of the world on the restoration of Nakshikantha in the year 1996 and in the same year itself has successfully fetched back Empress Noor Jehan’s beloved legendary handmade fabric Dhaka Muslin which utterly vanished from the country after the 1947 partition. Madhu has been applauded internationally in the year 1997 after her Nakshikantha illustration clutched the attention at the Miss World pageant. In 2003, she participated at the Singapore Fashion week which gained her added fame. Her expedition came more into focus after her presentation of bamboo-based textile at the VIIth World Bamboo Congress. For the Miss India Worldwide 2009, Madhu was appointed as the official Style and Design partner.

Her clientele  list includes Maneka Gandhi, Neelam Pratap Rudy, Princess Maha Al Sauduri of Saudi Arabia, Nita Ambani, Rani Mukerji and Juhi Chawla, Vandana Luthra, Mrs Chavan (Wife of the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Shri Ashok Chavan) and have created an exclusive range of  array for Waheeda Rehman. As well as the fashion domiciles like Ogaan, Kimaya and Ensemble are persistently sporting the designer’s collection.
