Popularly known as ‘Agni’, her creations reach out to a confident, independent individual who needs to make a western statement while at the same time keeping the Indian exotic touch. Born in Asansol, West Bengal to a family of doctors and academicians, Agnimitra Paul did MBA from Jadavpur University and a Diploma from the Fashion School of the Birla Institute of Liberal Arts & Management Sciences. She started her career in 2001 by designing personal wardrobe for Sridevi and got her first big break from designing costumes for Esha Deol for the film Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche.
Her label ‘INGA’ launched in 1997, features saris in combinations like handloom and bandhani or gadwal, paired with retro blouses and churidars, Indo-western outfits with Indian touches like batik and bandhani prints and semi-formal shirts for men in linen or matka cotton with stitching details.
Paul has showcased her collections at Lakme Fashion Week and India Fashion Week. Her clientele includes Bollywood and Tollywood celebrities like Mithun Chakraborty, Rituparna Sengupta, Jeet, Koel Mallick, Swastika Mukherjee, Mauli Ganguly amongst the others.
Her creations are retailing from her flagship store at Gurusaday Road, Kolkata, Melange in Mumbai, Oorja and Elahe in Hyderabad and Ffolio in Bangalore among others.
