For Raf Simons debuting for Dior after Galliano was fired from the house last year, it seems like haute couture is more about reinterpreting the iconic designs in a contemporary wearable manner rather than a self-indulging artistic pursuit.

The latest Dior haute couture show offered a range of designs which are as contemporary as retro exuding minimal glamour in the form of well-cut jackets, A-lined gowns and peplum-effect dresses. The off-shouldered printed dresses, gingham skirts, cigarette pants worn with peplum pieces and monochrome trench coats in somber hues straddled between the retro glamour and modern practicality.
