A peep into the baroque opulence of the costume jewellery of the past makes designer Karl Lagerfeld to come up with the new Chanel eyewear Bijou collection, combining exquisite metalwork with unique expertise.

The collection sees transformation of feminine frames into truly precious pieces of jewellery with temples adorned with unique intricate metalwork. Elegantly concealed among the spirals and scrolls of metal lace carved entirely by hand are emblematic Chanel symbols – a clover, a double C and a camellia.

On the rounded oversized and wraparound shapes, the ultra-wide temples create a confidently feminine style, while the ‘butterfly’ and ‘cat’s eye’ frames feature finer rectangular or cylindrical temples for a more graceful look.

The crystal-clear shine of the metal on the temples – in pale aged gold or palladium – is in subtle contrast with the pastel shades of lilac, celadon green, turquoise, pink and limpid blue, or the deeper shades of garnet and black, offering this Bijou collection a rich palette of colours.
