Fendi, the Italian luxury fashion label, pursues its quest for quaint again through its distinctive design project at Design Miami, the applied-arts exposition highlighting on every aspect of the collectable designs.

Namely, Craft Alchemy the project has been conceptualized by two emerging artists from Berlin, designer Elisa Strozyk and artist Sebastian Neeb where both experimented with Fendi’s discarded leather materials to fashion a dream like installation inspired by Palazzo Fendi, the extraordinary 17th century building in Rome that houses the label’s headquarters.

The artist duo has worked on a series of antique furniture pieces, primarily from the 18th century, popularly referred to as the golden age of craftwork. Bearing a great deal of intricate ornamentation such as craving and marquetry, these wooden antiques reflect the environment inspired by the grand Palazzo Fendi.

For the project Elisa and Sebastian have designed the setting after one of the original rooms of the palazzo, which they imagined to have remained secret and untouched for 300 years. In this fantasy, the Fendi spirit has permeated the furnishings, causing them to become transfigured in the manner of Selleria leather goods.
