For Autumn Winter 2011 edition of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, designer Charu Parashar presents ‘The Modernist’, a collection set in 18th century backdrop of rich prints infused in a dark background giving it a richer more harmonious look.

It originates from Persian ceramic ware based on Arabesque which has a lot of floral ornamentation like Marigold, Tulip and many more which is easily recognizable and are set in rustic Indian Jewel-Toned Palette of Deep Green, Orange and Indian pink. Charu takes her inspiration from 60s to provide a cleaner, glossier look.

Strong elongated outerwear pieces like trench jackets, faux-fur hooded Jackets and short soft structured dresses are key to this look. Other key pieces include the Indian salwar Pants and T-shaped tunic dresses. Silhouettes are simple with a modern aesthetic, balancing simple A- line and ovoid shaping.

Persian influenced prints on silk chiffon, velvet and supple satins with details and trims like tone on tone sequence, black crystal embellishment with Jaali embroidery and faux fur trims have been extensively used.

Woolen mufflers , shiny gold and silver bangles, gold meshed ear rings , rustic gold chained necklaces set in semi-precious stones, high heeled boots and glossy belts accessorize the collection.
