The city like Delhi shows you the world in few kilometers of its diameter. Ask Delhi born and bred fashion designer, Ashish Gupta, who awed the world with his distinctness. Having the patrons like Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham, Madonna, Jerry Hall, Lilly Allen and Patrick Wolf, Ashish’s journey to the closets of these big names is tad Bollywood- esque like his collections.  

A product of St. Columbus School in Delhi, Ashish like an average Delhi was always attracted to the glamorous world of fashion. Driven by his fascination, he tried at NIFT, New Delhi and NID, Ahmedabad, but all in vain. He finally graduated in fine arts from College of Arts in Delhi itself and left for unknown shores. It was the city of London where he studied fashion designing at Middlesex University and further enrolled in famed Central St Martin’s for Masters in fashion.

By now Ashish was riding on his dreams until a twist of fate left him in between nowhere. His plans to work in a Paris Design Studio botched up when his bag containing an entire portfolio of work along with cash got stolen in the city. It was the watershed moment for the designer. He started it all again by designing clothes for his family and friends until a buyer from Brown spotted someone wearing his clothes and set up a meeting with the designer.

And the flight took off. He showcased in 2004 in London Fashion Week and had the buyers from across the world. Since then designer has been operating from India and London, as his clothes are full of glitter and colors weaved in Indian traditional techniques but with the twist of contemporary fashion. Fun loving, sexy with a sense of humour and glitter of Bollywood, this designer loves playing with sequins. His fusion of Western and Eastern cultures results in an eccentric and unique collection with a mix of sportswear, high octane glamour and breathtaking craftsmanship beautiful, handcrafted pieces which are all manufactured in house at his workshop in India.

Currently, Ashish has his presence across the world from States to Japan. He retails from various multi designer stores under his eponymous label ‘Ashish’ in London, Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Bahrain amongst others.
