Karl Lagerfeld presents Chanel’s latest Métiers d’art collection in Salzburg next week along with an accompanying film featuring Cara Delevingne, Pharrell Williams and many other Chanel regulars like Lady Amanda Harlech, models Baptiste Giabiconi, Heidi Mount and the six year old Hudson Kroenig to name a few.
Titled ‘Reincarnation’, the movie re-enacts a crucial phase in Gabrielle Chanel’s life where she got mesmerised by hotel elevator operator’s jacket while she was vacationing at an Austrian resort in 1954.
The operator is being confidently portrayed by Pharrell and the unusual jacket is to become Chanel’s next fashion icon. Lagerfeld has gathered the fast-paced clip with a lot of humour, wit and historical allusions.
Besides the film also has glimpses of pop art where- a production of a Franz Xavier Winterhalter painting of Sisi (Empress Elisabeth of Austria) lords over the lobby of the hotel, another of Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria and Cara and Pharrell dancing some moves as an imperial couple- can be seen.
Meanwhile, the two will also join hands in the advertising campaign shot by Karl for the Paris-Salzburg collection, scheduled to arrive in stores in May 2015.
Reincarnation, however, will mark its debut on 1st December.
