Sleek, chic and glamorous – these three words can perhaps describe any Peacock creation. The husband-wife duo of Shane & Falguni Peacock love to dress women donning their creations in ultra-feminine and fantastically elegant clothes. The brand they have created is synonymous to highly luxurious prêt, resort and evening wear. Their look is more fusion, western cut and Indian work with an incredible international appeal.
This is evident from their ever growing, ever impressing list of international clientele. While singer Fergie chose their edgy design for her performance at the FIFA, there is Ozzy Osbourne’s new video which features two of their futuristic outfits. Then there is pop singer Brandy who opted for their ‘neo-age design’ outfit at this year’s American Music and Entertainment Awards. Actor Naomi Harris and well-known Israeli actor Golan have also been known to grace their creations.
Success, though, didn’t come easy to the pair. Shane studied engineering at the behest of his father, and Falguni who came from a background of chartered accountants and lawyers, was greeted with equal skepticism when she chose to become a fashion designer. In the end she settled for a Commercial Art degree to make her family happy but working in an ad agency only made her unhappy. Fortunately for fashion lovers across the globe, both found their true calling in fashion.
The couple started their work in August of 2002, specializing in mainly trousseau and custom made garments. Later in the same year, their prêt label was launched. They begun by retailing at the premier designer stores around India and then went on to launch their very own Flagship store "Peacock Prêt" in Dec 2003. The duo has managed to divide work amongst them neatly. While Falguni looks into the orders and the running of the company, Shane focuses into the growth and expansion of the company.
They have been consistently working together towards the international market and have already set foot by retailing at London, Manchester, Miami, Marbella and Dubai. In India apart from their flagship store, their creations can be found at Fuel Mumbai and M&S Design Delhi.
