Every passing year is defined with some highs and lows, some best and worst fashion experiences ever seen/heard, and so we did see such moments in 2013 too. Let us all hold our attention on some fashion headlines for the same.
While Indian celebrities and internationally acclaimed Indian designers have made us really proud by their presence at the International fashion rampage and fashion events, their futuristic Indian fashion makes waves abroad. Khadi revives fashionably to adorn global ramps. Sonam Kapoor’s nath at the Cannes Film Festival also created quite a stir in the country. Joining the Bee-line isn’t a new name Priyanka Chopra as first-ever Indian face of popular fashion brand ‘Guess’. Well, adding feather to the cap was celebrated designer Ritu Kumar being awarded with ‘Padmashree’ has been one of the biggest honour for the fashion fraternity. Also reaching a new level, we saw Masaba Gupta took over Satya Paul.
Celebrating the Indianness and talking about the fashion moments of the year, fashion designer Rohan Arora says, “It has been a real good year for the industry, we have been really talk of the town at all the International fashion rampage, Film festivals and more. In the mad fashion race, Sonam Kapoor had been really outstanding round the calendar, her presence and fashion ethos is worth appreciating. One of the best ever fashion moments ever seen/heard in India was Sabyasachi’s Opium show at Delhi’s biggie fashion week, he redefined a new Indian era.”
Whereas designer Shruti Sancheti feels, “The passing year has been very memorable for us. One of the biggest ever achievement was Padmashree award presented to legendary designer Ritu Kumar, it has been a prestigious achievement for the industry. ‘India Textile Day’ at Lakme Fashion Week gained momentum this year and brought the unsurpassed legacy of India to forefront. Nonetheless, what a speechless grand finale ever presented by Sabyasachi Mukherjee at LFW and Rajesh Pratap Singh at WIFW, one of the finest and best ever grand finale ever seen.”
To add-on, lately what took all the rage was Tom Ford’s return to the biggie fashion ramp, Marc Jacobs changed the head with Nicolas Ghesquiere by bidding adieu the influential post of creative director at Louis Vuitton after 19 long years of togetherness, joining the fashion band-wagon all new set for Brit designers J W Anderson and Stuart Vevers. Kate too made us all feel great; much has been said about the most celebrated fashion sense of the princess.
Further, fashion focus has been a major name in the US, New York based celebrated designer of Indian origin designer Naeem Khan has his first ever showing at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.
Expressing about the debut presentation, designer Naeem Khan shares, “It was like my dream come true, best ever fashion moment I had been waiting for. My first ever show wherein I felt proud to have my parents along.”
Globalisation led to biggie brands moving to India. The year got to see flood of luxury labels coming to the capital. Where the only dampener was high street label H&M had deferred their arrival to India due to the unstable economy.
With the time to come and new calendar to unveil in a short while, let us all resolve to be true fashion individuals and further in 2014 may we look out for the best and the most fashionable thing ever happened. Wish you a fashion-astic 2014!!
