Wife of designer Gaurav Khanijo, Amrita Thakur studied fashion designing at Pearl Academy of Fashion in Delhi. Her designs are for the contemporary Indian woman who loves the traditional and yet loves the lightness of her freedom.

Her label ‘Amrita Thakur’ started in 2011 is a refreshing take on Indian bridal garments, highlighted with elements of fun colors, minimalist embroidery yet tastefully blended with classic old world elements. The brand was started keeping in mind women who know they just need only ‘that much’ to stand apart as well as stand strong and beautiful in a crowd.

She has showcased her collections at Lakme Fashion Week and her designs have been wore by celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Minisha Lamba, Karishma Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Anupama Chopra to name a few.

An alumnus of NIFT, Bangalore, Sujit Meher is an Indian young designer born in Odisha. He left his Engineering and jumped into the fashion world. H was appointed as designer of a Bollywood production and distribution company Eros International soon after his graduation. He is among the youngest designer cum entrepreneur of India.

In 2011, he launched his label called ‘Tilottama’ to create designs for social causes. The label aims at bringing back the culture of Indian handlooms by infusing it with modern fashion trends. He is among the youngest designer cum entrepreneur of India. The brand designs indigenous ethnic wear in the form Kurti, Shalwar, Tops and pattern of short shirt for the casual as well as the party wear.

In 2012, Sujit partnered with Juhar Parivaar that organises the annual event to celebrate Nuakhai — the most significant festival of western Odisha. He has showcased his collection at Bangalore Show.

Archana Rao is formally trained in fashion, graduating from National Institute of Fashion Technology and armed with a post-graduate degree from Parsons College of Design, New York. She won “Best Design collection” in her graduation show back in 2007. Her aesthetic is minimalistic, contemporary and understated. She likes playing with the structure of the garment and experimenting with various proportions.

In 2011, Archana went on to launch her own label ‘Frou Frou’ which means the rustling sound of a fabric. An ace couturier, a fashion stylist, a choreographer and a professor, Hemant Trevedi is famous for his extremely versatile designs. He graduated from the Australian Technical Institute of Fashion Design and was in fact the first male student to earn the degree. He further joined the coveted Fashion Institute of Technology, New York to enhance his knowledge on the fashion trends across the globe.

In 1980, Hemant came back to India and started his label ‘Hemant Trevedi’. He is the Design Director of the reputed Sheetal Group. Sheetal caters to the need of every Indian fashion buff by blending together rich elements of craftsmanship, embroidery and textures. Hemant Trevedi has created three different labels to meet the distinct fashion needs of men, women and kids.

The designer has showcased his flamboyant collections at Lakme Fashion Week in India and various other platforms in  UK, US, China, Egypt, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and U.A.E. He was the only Indian fashion designer who was invited to showcase his creation amongst the seventeen European labels presenting their design ideas for Spring-Summer 2000 Collection at the August Premiere shows.

Born on November 28, 1976 in Kerala, Anand Jon graduated from Institute of Fort Lauderdale and later from Parsons The New School for Design. He did his internship with famous designer Donna Karan.

In 1998, he launched spring 99 debut collection ‘Amazone’ inspired by the trinity of Shakti: Goddess culture and fall 99 ‘Arcane’. He was famous for embroideries on skirts, pants and dresses and a new crop of leather looks with crystal details. In later years he was joined by his sister Sanjana Jon for a new jewellery line.

In 2007, he was rated as hottest new designers and he appeared as a celebrity judge on “America’s Next Top Model”. The Consul General of India, Mrs Shashi Tripathi at a press conference introduced Anand Jon as one of the outstanding cultural ambassadors of India.

Anand Jon was among selected designers at the NYC 2000 fashion show on Times Square. He is known for his on 2006 MTV Movie Awards, 40 Most Awesomely Bad Dirrty Songs, Ever and America’s Next Top Model. His designs attracted prominent names like Nadja Swarovski, Lynn Whitfield & Susan Lucci, musician Alanis Morrisette, Mary J Blige, Mya, Ananda Lewis and Courtney Love to name a few.

In 2008, unfortunately the talented designer faced 49 legal charges that included allegations of rape, drugging and mafia death threats. Sex assault allegations against Alexander began surfacing in 2007 from California, Los Angeles, Texas and New York. Later a court in Los Angeles sentenced him to jail for 59 after finding him guilty. His sister is still fighting for his justice, as she believes he is innocent.

His memorable last fashion show was Anand Jon W/ Paris Hilton where celebrated Hollywood actress Paris Hilton wore his stunning designs.
