Here is Maggie in a candid conversation with fashionfad.in…
Tell us something about your formative years and academics?
I was born and brought up in Ukraine and my family still lives there. But from the last few years I am settled in Delhi.
What was your parents’ viewpoint on you choosing modeling as a career?
My parents have always been very supportive and stood by me in my every decision and now they are really happy with where I am.
What do you think of Bollywood as a career option?
It’s great but I am happier being a model.
Where do you see yourself in this cut throat competitive industry? What’s your success mantra?
Is there any competition?………( laughs). It is a big industry and there is a space for everyone. If you have a potential then definitely you will find good work.
What are the essentials to be a good model?
Commitment, patience, hard work, right attitude and social skills.
What else do you enjoy apart from modeling?
Hanging out with my friends is something which I love to do.
What’s your Beauty & Fitness regime?
I do P90X-work out at home. Have always been good in athletics since teen age. I am a good swimmer and can defend myself if I need to. And for the beauty – good hygiene is must. Although, the work affects a lot on models’ skin with the make up, so I use only high-quality cosmetic products.
What is fashion for you?
I love to quote a Russian Designer when it comes to Fashion- ‘Fashion can be out of fashion but style never’.

Kiehl’s Happy Earth Day
Kiehl’s since 1851, India, pledges to support sustainable environmental initiatives this Earth Day, 22nd April 2011, joining forces with the rest of the world to spread the awareness about environmental sustainability.
Proudly celebrating April 2011 as Earth Month and 22nd April, 2011 as Earth Day, Kiehl’s is reaching out to its customers throughout April to visit their flagship Kiehl’s boutique at Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi and return their Kiehl’s empties. By doing so, anyone can participate in Kiehl’s global “Recycle & be Rewarded” program, a unique loyalty program, that rewards customers with complimentary Kiehl’s products for being environmentally responsible.
In view of Earth Day 2011, Kiehl’s & Nanhi Chhaan, an organization dedicated to girl care and environmental concern, have joined hands to initiate a green project in month of April.
Aligned with the company’s historical commitment to the environment and inspired by rapidly increasing customer demand over the years, Kiehl’s India, following the ethos of the brand pledges to minimize the amount of packaging use and maximize the use of Post-Consumer Recycled material, upcycle many of the returned bottles into new, functional items for future in-store use and continue supporting Recyle and be Rewarded program.
About Kiehl’s eco-friendly initiative, Anurag Tyagi, Brand Manager, Kiehl’s Since 1851, India, says, “At Kiehl’s, we serve fine quality skincare products to our customers that not only contain high concentrations of rare and rich natural ingredients with minimal environmental impact, but are also packaged, as far as possible, in post- consumer recycled packaging. Upon return from our customers in the form of Kiehl’s empties, we further recycle and up-cycle the iconic Kiehl’s bottles”
Sole for Soul
JK Tyre, a part of JK organization, in association with Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) launched ‘Soles With Souls’, a first of its kind tyre recycling initiative in the world, attempting to recycle tyres using unconventional methods and innovatively create footwear and accessories from old and recycled tyres.
Taking the concept further over 40 shoes and accessories, designed by students of FDDI from the recycled tyres were showcased through a fashion walk. The variety of designs included right from office wear to casual sandals, to belts and fancy bags. The students were trained by JK Tyre on the usage of rubber to create the fancy products.
About this breakthrough initiative and FDDI’s association with JK Tyre, Rajeev Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI, said, “It has given our students an altogether a new canvas to work on. At the same time, we end up recycling enormous amounts of rubber lying waste. The students have been successful in portraying their creativity, which reflects in their designs. I must congratulate JK Tyre for taken up such an initiative. I see a start of global revolution and the initiative aptly complements the upcoming Earth Day when the world looks to synergize against environmental degradation.”
Day 2 @ DFW F/W 2011
The day 2 of the ongoing Dubai Fashion Week Fall Winter 2011 titillated with subtle glamour and striking designs. The drama, high end creativity, style and grandeur, all paired to present the wonderful shows. Opened by Jordanian Tatyana Aceeva, the whole day witnessed rich contemporary yet traditional designs reining the ramps. Let’s peep into the collections of the designers on Day 2 of the DFW F/W 2011.
Tatyana Aceeva
Tatyana Aceeva presented her Fall Winter 2011 collection titled, ‘A Return To Glamour’, infusing the elements of modern design into classical silhouettes. The show opened with a number of nude outfits embroidered with black lace. Outfits in varying shades of magenta were followed by gowns in electric blue. Grecian-inspired dresses and wide necks were accompanied by satin bows. Black dresses covered in sequined patterning were alternated with stiff-pleated bodices and flouncy skirts. One-shoulder gowns were held up by embellished straps as well as fabric bunched up to form floral design elements. Fabrics primarily utilized were pure silks, chiffons and flowing georgettes with hand-beaded embroidery and crystal embellishments.
Montaha Al Ajeel
The designer’s latest collection saw influences had heavy Mexican, Arab, Oriental and Dutch influences with the usage of fabrics like denim, jersey silk and lace. Keeping the traditional cut of the abaya intact, digital prints of the Mona Lisa, the Eiffel Tower and other pop culture motifs were infused into the outfits. Hats, tiaras, masques and a flamboyant feather headdress added dramatic value to the show. Patterned beaded chains were a recurring feature as they appeared on waistbands, tasseled necklines as well as whole bodices.
Aly Fawaz
Aly Fawaz’s collection – Contessa, inspired by Marilyn Monroe, was a vibrant collection that is both elegant and futuristic. Sensual gowns in fuchsia and parrot green were set off by jeweled bodices and ruffles. Completely bejeweled cowl neck dresses saw silver chained tassels over lines of crystals covering the fabric. Gold and silver outfits with encrusted bodices of sequins, crystals and chains were combined with frills and ruffled skirts. Metal appliqués were used to cinch waists and line the necklines of the sensual gowns. The range also had three bridal outfits in heavy floral designs.
Jeanine Haute Couture
Drawing inspiration from the pearl, the 40-outfit collection extensively made use of organza and chiffon along with tulle and Chantilly lace. Strategically frazzled lace was used in a bridal outfit as well as ruffled crepe in an evening gown. The bridal collection made appropriate use of stiff bodices and teamed them with lavish flowing skirts and sequined veils. Outfits in shades of grey, beige, white and black were embellished in complementary hues. The theme of pearls was evident in every creation, as pearls were worked into every outfit in the collection, from bordering sleeves and hemlines to outlining appliqués and chains of pearls woven in between Chantilly lace.
Mauzan
In Mauzan’s fall winter line up geometric patterns adorned fine fabrics from Italy and France giving the outfits a global appeal. Batwing sleeves ending in tassels were followed by triangular panels of patterned silk and bands of cloth running through the classic silhouette that is synonymous with the region’s women. The wraparound abaya attached with a sash that doubled up as a shayla, Jalabiyas in green velvet with orange appliqués and kaftans with symmetrical panels in shades of orange and green dominate the range.
