The recently held BeYu Fashion Awards 2011 at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi bestowed special lifetime achievement award to eminent designer Jatin Kochhar along with other young designers for their contribution to global fashion.

Organized by Elder Health Care Ltd for its German premium cosmetic brand BeYu, the annual award ceremony in its Delhi leg saw designer Jatin Kochhar along with well-known young Indian designers like Anand Bhushan, Joy Mitra, Nida Mahmood, Nikhita Tandon, Rajdeep Ranawat and Jenjum and Jasleen showcasing their latest collection to the select audience.

BeYu’s international makeup artist, Diego Schober also presented the theme of the event, ‘BeYu’s Ode to the Indian Woman’ by presenting a sequence where he created and showcased  looks based on the elements of nature viz, Earth, Water, Fire and Wind, symbolizing the moods and character of an Indian woman.

The best little deli in Delhi is how I will describe Ploof Deli Kitchen & Bar.

It is a nouvelle eating experience located in the heart of New Delhi, in cozy Lodi Colony market. Karam Puri the new owner and the man behind the new habitat, soon after taking over realized you could go out to eat, but nowhere could you buy all the ingredients for a gourmet meal to serve your family and friends at home or at the same place as you could have coffee or a quick bite with friends. Hence he converted it into a part restaurant, part delicatessen, part pantry and a café, all rolled into one.

Popular for its wide array of sea-food dishes, Ploof is everything a small restaurant should be. An old favorite, Ploof came onto the scene of Delhi’s Belly when there was a need for a good sea food restaurant (has host of other dishes as well) and it was received well, quite well as a neighborhood joint.

There were three of us and we had all the varieties right from Vegetable Crepes, Woody Roast Chicken served with mashed potato and greens to sole in mustard and basil. The food was excellent, though we had a small debate on whether an India sea bass was substantially different from those served outside. But the fish was fresh and the spices were strong.

An exciting innovation at Ploof is ‘The Market Place’. Offering a wide selection of customized meats, fish and seafood that you can eat in or take home with you. Huge emphasis has been focused on sourcing fresh produce from top farms and butchers around the globe. Not only can you choose your favorite meat but you can mix and match your choice of marinade making cooking at home easier than ever. Amongst the Chicken there is the ‘Malai basil, sun-dried tomatoes and herbs’, ‘Kafir lime leaves & ginger and ‘Spiced Chicken Kibbeh’ and ‘Mangalore Malasa’. There is a wide range of seafood on offer, fillets of snapper , sea bass, whole lobsters , scallops and crabs accompanied by marinades such as ‘Lemon, dill and olive oil’, ‘Mustard, basil’ , ‘Thai herbs’ and ‘peri peri’. Along side awaits the juicy pork chops, tenderloin steaks, lamb chops in smoked rosemary, plump chickens to get you started on.  With a frozen section close by you can also stock up on your chicken, seafood, sausages and bacon.
