DAY: 1

Day 1 of the Paris’ fall-winter 2015-16 haute couture week saw French, Russian and Italian designers taking over the runway.

Parisian couturier Adeline Andre presented long column silhouettes in pure fabrics hung from the shoulders with unstructured, feminine fluidity. Some stunning looks black hooded coat with flashes of burnt sienna and yellow and a perfectly cut black trapeze silhouette coat, with curved angular sleeves. While Dutch designer Ilja Visser showed a very interesting couture collection that oscillated between structure and architecture with bursts of fluidity.  Her collections of oversized and sculpted silhouettes with asymmetric lines were inspired by the shapes of crystals and minerals as well as their colours: azure blue, onyx black and pink quartz.

Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko presented stunning looks like a plain black coatdress with draping over the hips, a baby blue maxi fur worn over a negligée-style pale pink bustier dress and midi-dresses with a cascade of pleated ruffles over one hip. On the other hand Italian designer Donatella Versace showcased fun and frothy collection that mirrored the exuberance of the late ’70s and the architecture of Art Nouveau. Colors were subtle and feminine like dove gray, soft apple green, fuchsia, pinks, and flashes of tangerine. She showed considerable diversity, from fluid columns to a pair of feathered-out ballgowns.

1Max Mara, in partnership with Maramotti Collection, presents Uomini come CiboHumans as Food, an exhibition of forty works by the children of the Atelier dell’Errore, a visual arts laboratory created as a compendium for the clinical activities of the Reggio Emilia children’s neuropsychiatry department.

Upturning the perspective of the theme of Expo Milano 2015, the works focus on the central issue of a fantastic bestiary of creatures that feed off men.

With this visionary view of men, from dominant beings they become consumer objects, while the animals become devourers, incarnating the fears of the children who drew them, taking on a salvific function, becoming a projective defence mechanism for their fragility in their relations with the real world.

Visitors are taken on a journey that runs from underground tunnels, through the sea and the earth as far as the sky, in a stratification that re-establishes an apparent biological order among the different fantastic species. The thrilling imaginary journey provokes different personal projections for every visitor.

During the exhibition, a shopping bag created by Max Mara using the drawings of the Atelier is on sale at the Max Mara Group stores in Milan, and all proceeds will go to the Atelier.
