Day 2 of Berlin fashion week S/S 16 saw Anja Gockel’s 1970 inspired collection which had business, occasion, and resort wear. Rich colors added a particular depth to the pieces that help to create engaging looks. In addition, sleek but feminine fabrics and patterns gave a delicate edge to the collection along with the watercolor prints.Hien Le’s collection brought simplicity and complexity with pieces that were clean and often sleek. The collection had a contemporary touch and appeared exceedingly wearable. On the other side William Fan presented a mixture of architectural pieces with less constructed silhouettes. Earthy tone imparted a natural element that equally contrasted and complemented the sophisticated nature of the sharper pieces.
Influenced by traditional Islamic dress, designer Sasa Kovacevic for his label Sadak presented luxurious fabric paired with loose, summer-appropriate trousers in a complimentary color. A patterned knee-length short was paired with cape that was and midi short was wore under flowing long shirt. Designer Louise Friedlaender showed contemporary designs like a black crop top with spaghetti straps, a gray maxi skirt in further V-line, ribbed sweaters and wrinkled silk ensembles, floor-length dresses with fringes appear on the hem and wide-cut coats. Minx by Eva Lutz’s collection was dominated by leggings-style pants, wide and comfortable jogging pants cut capri pants, big maxi dresses, evening dresses and floor-length maxi dresses.
The German label VONSCHWANENFLÜGELPUPKE presented elaborate prints on high-quality materials. The lineup had skirts, baggy pants, geometric tops and lightweight jackets with very colorful prints. Franziska Michael’s drew inspiration from “the Nineties film ‘Hackers’ for her new ss16 lineup. Michael translated her theme into oversize caramel-hued leather overalls worn with white Lycra cropped tops underneath and light blue denim worn over cropped sweatshirts with rolled up sleeves.Influenced by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo Rebekka Ruetz showed a colorful Spring / Summer collection which had strong colors like orange, pink, purple, dark blue and plum tones. The range included knee-length dresses with asymmetrical hems, mini dresses with accentuated waist line, floor length skirts, over long blouses and boxy jackets.
Agnes Narnicka’s S/ S 16 collection for his label One Wolf was dominated by Safari looks and urban influences. 3-button blazers, vests and wide, knee-length pleated trousers with extravagant details like butterfly flying, safari hats and plateau sneakers were unconventional and confident looks. Irene Luft brought recurrent X-silhouette and a distinctive style element in the entire collection. With predominantly shades of cream and black with the materials strong contrasts made collection interesting and exciting. Inspired from her trip to Los Angeles Kilian Kerner latest collection showed interplay of delicate silk and chunky knit, female silhouettes and cool-clean cuts. She used soft tones, Nude and Rose and Off-White, orange and tinted blue.
Guido Maria Kretschmer incorporated a well-rounded selection of men’s wear into the collection for the first time. Looks included Breton-striped men’s T-shirts worn under fitted black and navy suits, puffy blue-and-white-striped tulip skirt and sequined cropped jackets done in pink and blue. For spring Julian Zigerli createdwhite jeans, knit pants and T-shirts with ink stain, pale-gray and black trenches and jackets tied kimono-style.Esther Perbandt came up with monochromatic black pieces, then all white pieces and some with black-and-white stripes, tie-dyes, and grays. Broad strips of caked paint over sheer oversized tops or voluminous floor-length skirts offered a further variation on the usual stripe pattern.
