Vera Wang was joined by some of tinsel town’s brightest as she celebrated the opening of her Rodeo Drive flagship at Los Angeles.

Done in a moodier palette of grays and blacks, Vera commissioned CELLUOID (The Kiss), a video installation by film artist Marco Brambilla which guests viewed for the first time. The evening benefited Barnardo’s: Believe in children, which uses the knowledge gained from direct work with children to campaign for better childcare policy and to champion the rights of every child.

For the past eight years, the Independent Handbags Designer Award has been providing an effective and promoting platform to the some extremely creative and talented handbags’ designers, who otherwise get fewer opportunities to showcase their collections in mainstream fashion shows. Founded by Emily Blumenthal, the eighth annual Independent Handbags Designer Award took place on the 18th of June in New York City.

The contest included as many as 1,500 participants from all over the world, out of whom 30 were shortlisted and divided into categories of five. Recruited by a jury which included Rafe Totengco, Deborah Lloyd of Kate Spade, Kenneth Cole, Carlos Falchi, Erica Russo of Bloomingdale’s, Lauren Bush Lauren and Suesan Falkner of Guess, the winners were entitled to get featured in the September issue of InStyle magazine. Furthermore, the winner of the Best Handbag in Over Style and Award got the marvellous opportunity to sell his/her respective collection in selective Bloomingdale’s markets, during the upcoming season.

Among other awardees, Morgan Richards won in the category of the ‘Optitex Best Student Made Handbag’, while Gili Rozin Tamam won for the ‘Bernina Best Handmade Handbag’, and Monica Frisbie bagged the ‘FEED Most Socially Responsible Handbag’ award.

This season, Sangeeta Booochra introduces a collection inspired by the Temples of India especially for spiritual patrons. The collection exemplify the rich cultural heritage and grandeur of Indian temples has beautifully handcrafted jewellery in silver with elaborate designs and carvings of idols made using repousse technique of craftsmanship.

This designer is known for his fondness of designing for the customer’s personal satisfaction, to bring out the best out his personality. He graduated in fashion designing from NIFT, Hyderabad in 1998 and launched hi eponymous label in 2000. The label is replete of unconventional menswear collection with a context to sensuality.

Over the years, he has come a long way, bagging awards like the Designer of the Year, 1998, the Most Commercially Viable Range of Garments award, the Best Creative Use of Tencel Award and many more.

Speaking of Sandeep’s earlier years in the fashion industry, he pursued training with the fashion garments exporter Walter Jhonson in Delhi. The same enabled him to learn how to effectively balance creativity and wearability. Thereafter, he worked as an assistant designer with Wendell Rodericks in Goa. With him, Sandeep got acquainted with the significance of natural fibres, cutting on bias and importance of finishing.

It is because of this reason that he believes in using natural fabrics like cottons and silks for his garments and enhances them with great amount of detailing.

Meanwhile, he successfully retails his collection from up-market studios in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Ludhiana.

The celebration of the biggest accomplishments in perfume, the Fragrance Foundation Awards held in New York City on the 17th of June which saw some glitterati faces like Chrissy Teigen, Angie Harmon and Michael C. Hall.

Hosted by Dana Carvey and Carine Roitfeld, the event was comprised of an entertaining music performance by Judith Hill and was met by the participation of guests including Marisa Tomei, Gwendoline Christie, Kellan Lutz joining Hilary Rhoda, Behati Prinsloo, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Lily Donaldson, and many others honouring the industry.

The names of the biggest awardees of the night included Ralph Lauren and Victoria’s Secret, both of whom bagged as many as three awards. Whereas, among other winners, Giorgio Armani’s ‘Prive Rose d’Arabie’ won the Women’s Luxury Fragrance of the Year award, Carlos Benaim won the Perfumer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Estée Lauder by Modern Muse won the Women’s Prestige Award, Ralph Lauren’s Polo Red won the Men’s Prestige Award and Tom Ford’s ‘Rive D’Ambre’ won the Men’s Luxury Fragrance of the Year.

The Dutch denim specialist brand, G-star unveiled its collection made from tons of recycled ocean plastic, titled ‘Raw for the Oceans’. The collection marks the collaboration of the brand with the iconic American singer, Pharrell Williams, who is also an investor in Bionic Yarn, a company that produces textiles by recycling plastic waste.

However, speaking of Raw for the Oceans, the collection is the first one to use recycled ocean material, concluding to the brand’s long lasting attempt to go eco-friendly. It is replete of garments for men and women, featuring jeans, bomber jackets, trench coats, t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats, all made from Bionic Yarn. Available in dark blue and black colours, the collection is an effective blend of playful casual wear as well as informal party wear.

It will be available for retail in G-star stores and in other multi-brands from the 1st of September.

The British super model and actress tries her hands at designing footwear as she curates her first capsule collection for Superga, the Italian casual footwear brand. The model was previously the face of the brand’s spring summer 2014 campaign and also stars with Cara Delevingne  for Burberry’s latest campaign.

Speaking of the casual sneakers collection by Suki, it consists of girly platform shoes with hearts imprinted on the sides of the soles. She kept the colour combination extremely playful and girly, including baby pink, light blue and cherry red and navy.

The shoes will available for the fun loving teenagers and adults from the end of August.

The French luxury leather goods brand completes twenty years with its iconic Pilage bag, and celebrates the same with an all new ad campaign featuring the beautiful Alexa Chung. The model gracefully poses with the cute and adorable Jack Russell terrier puppy, along with a fresh transformed version of Le Pliage Heritage bag in off-white.

Meanwhile, Alexa has also been previously associated with the brand, where she was featured in its spring 2014 campaign, shot by Saint Tropez. However, the present celebration campaign has been shot by Max Vadakul in France.

Moreover, the campaign will be accompanied by a short screening of a movie inspired by Alice in Wonderland, directed by Jean-François Julian. With a single picture of the print ad revealed till present, the full campaign will be released on 9th September.

The American luxury brand Oscar de la Renta joined hands with the Detroit-based watch and leather goods company Shinola, to launch an exquisite collection of wrist watches. Titled as ‘Lattice’, the two giants have a produce a limited 1000 piece edition of the collection, which is extremely feminine in vibrant strap colours.

Aptly named, the collection is inspired by Oscar de la Renta’s jewellery collection, featuring a lattice design made of sapphire crystal and mother of pearl. Exemplified by the best craftsmanship of these Americans, the watches have been made both, with and without diamonds.

Henceforth, to exhilarate the fashionistas with this innovation in wrist watches, Lattice will be launched in October at Neiman Marcus. The collection will also be available at Oscar de la Renta and Shinola retail and online stores and will be featured in the former’s fall ad campaign.
