The Journey of Antonio LopezIf Andy Warhol can be credited to create our very visual perception of 60s and delineate the art scene of that era, then somehow Antonio Lopez in his own right was the man who took the charge of fashion and portrayed it in all its hedonistic glory.

One of the most influential fashion illustrators ever whose work appeared in various publications through 60s, 70s and 80s has been sketched sensationally in a tome Antonio Lopez: Fashion, Art, Sex and Disco. The first complete monograph on Antonio featuring his dazzling illustrations is out on the shelves with an epilogue by fashion designer Anna Sui and contribution by Bill Cunningham.

The book which concludes with Anna Sui’s "I’m from the generation that came to New York to meet their idols. In my case it was Andy Warhol and Antonio Lopez” traces the psychedelic journey of Antonio whose vibrant illustrations in the 60s helped usher youth culture into the pages of magazines, setting a new, free-flowing, sexually liberated standard for fashion imagery.

Social Media Savvy GucciIn the times when world is shifting to bits, bytes or whatever of technology, social media is playing a meme and Gucci knows it pretty well.

Thus, banking upon the wide reach of social media the Italian luxury brand announces “Icons of Heritage – Cut & Craft”, a global social media campaign dedicated to House’s iconic handbags – the Jackie, the New Bamboo and the Stirrup – marking the first time for facebook users of Korea and Japan upload their own content onto Gucci’s official page.

A dedicated tab on Gucci’s Facebook page hosts Cut & Craft, in addition to localized tabs on the House’s Korean and Japanese pages. The tab is available in five languages – English, Italian, French, Spanish and Arabic – on the worldwide page, and in Korean and Japanese on the local pages.

Fans can view short 3-D films introducing the three bags along with an image gallery of the current collection, linked to Gucci’s Digital Flagship Store. Fans can then download patterns for papercraft copies of the three bags, illustrate and assemble them, following the lead of beautifully minimal instructional videos, and finally upload photos of their DIY (do it yourself) masterpieces to a gallery where they can browse others’ designs and vote for their favorites.

Finally, Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Gianni will select the three best designs among the top nine finalists to feature as the House’s Facebook cover page. The three winners selected in both the Korean and Japanese contests will receive a complimentary handbag reflecting the icon with which they worked.
