For Raf Simons debuting for Dior after Galliano was fired from the house last year, it seems like haute couture is more about reinterpreting the iconic designs in a contemporary wearable manner rather than a self-indulging artistic pursuit.

The latest Dior haute couture show offered a range of designs which are as contemporary as retro exuding minimal glamour in the form of well-cut jackets, A-lined gowns and peplum-effect dresses. The off-shouldered printed dresses, gingham skirts, cigarette pants worn with peplum pieces and monochrome trench coats in somber hues straddled between the retro glamour and modern practicality.
 
It’s the glamorized version of ready-to-wear Versace collection which marked the relaunch of the brand’s couture line after its discontinuation in 2005. 

The tarot card inspired collection with dollops of glamor in the form of thigh-high slits, transparent skirts of the gowns, layers of PVC over silk, perforated dresses, thin stripped pieces and loads of embellishment. An assortment of glitzy dresses varying from figure forming sheaths to fit-and-flare full-length ones featured tarot prints, layers and bead work in metallic hues predominantly. 

Besides, a yellow perforated trench dress, metallic dress with front pockets and corset embellished gowns in different hues of blue are few of the highlights of the collection.
 
Chopard Charity EveningFor the 14th consecutive year, Sir Elton John and David Furnish opened the doors of their splendid Old Windsor home for the legendary White Tie & Tiara Ball, organised in association with Chopard.

The evening which raised over 4 million pounds to benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation took guests into the world of iconic Motown style, a style of soul music with a distinct pop influence.The garden where the cocktail took place was transformed taking its inspiration from Detroit, the Motor City of America. Besides, the magnificent Chopard creations were showcased in cubicles presented in piles of white car tires, perfectly fitting the theme.

The traditional auction invited guests to support the foundation through unique lots like a donation to support the Ukraine street girls, an Anthony Gormley sculpture “Another time IX”, a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate David Furnish’s 50th birthday this October, a unique “Tom Hardy” Audi R8 and a special Chopard watch amongst others.

The event witnessed the celebrities and movie stars gracing the evening. The attendees included George Michael, Lara Stone, David Walliams, Grace Jones, Lulu, Lizzie Jagger, Dame Shirley Bassey, OrnellaMutti, NaikeRivelli, EvgenyLebedev, Naomi Watts, Beth Ditto, Matthew Morrison, Renee Puente, Colton Haynes and more.

Furla AW12 Ad CampaignThe recently revealed Furla Autumn Winter 2012 ad campaign comes as a reflection of the energy of color with loads of positivity.

The images shot by photographer Francesco Carrozzini at the Milk Gallery in New York features model Kate Harrison to create a visual illusion that breaks the bi-dimensionality through shapes of colours and different perspective levels, underlining the complicit dialogue between Furla and all those women who identify themselves within its values of modernity, elegance and authenticity.

The graphical images, intense shades and the concept of color block blending art, fashion and style define the campaign. The artistic performance of Sissi for Furla Foundationdraws urge and inspiration from the language of Dadaism where objects alter and are ennobled in order to offer new interpretations. According to this logic the bag changes and modifies its own meaning by becoming a “friend”, by creating a joyful interaction with the model. They both seem to come out from a backstage and “hole” the surface as to become real.

The luxury and dark glamour come alive in latest Gucci Pre-Fall 2012 ad campaign featuring models KarmenPedaru, Nadja Bender and Staffan Lindstrom.

The images showcasing evening gowns, trench coats and pantsuits with wide-leg trousers are shot by Mert& Marcus. The campaign done in hues of black and white also features clutches, bow tie chokers, embellished belts and bucket handbags for the Pre-Fall 2012 collection of the brand.

Martini’s High Fashion AnteOne of the leading names in the Italian winemaking, Martini, a fashion-forward brand, ups the fashion ante of its new campaign, The Martini Royale Casting, by partnering with multiple-award winning fashion boutique my-wardrobe.com and its founder Sarah Curran.

A global search to find the new face of Martini will see Sarah Curran personally working with the brand and international judge for the campaign, Christian Louboutin on the casting and assisting the finalists with their style, attitude and approach.

Apart from endorsing the brand globally, the winner will win 12 pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes and 12 outfits from the fashion boutique, personally selected by its founder.
